Migraine Life Hack

Migraine Life Hack sounds amazing, but is it too good to be true? I would like to debunk some products and mindsets. I also want to leave you with some of my best finds. Before that, let’s live by three principles. First, everyone has their journey to live; what works for one person may not work for others and vice versa.

I challenge you secondly to be persistent as you consider new treatments and strategies in your migraine journey. And third, we have to be able to advocate for ourselves. If we see something we want, you may choose to talk it out with your doctor and if applicable your migraine coach. I offer these services and Jaime Sanders, the Migraine Diva is also a great inspiration resource. Take on your mantra and live your best life.

I used to feel alone and felt a sense of hope after developing a community and connecting with others. My mission is to bring this hope to others. You deserve this and the people who care about you want this too. My mantra became “There is always hope!”

Migraine Life Hack 1:

Loop Earplugs

These things are amazing! I have surely tried many earplugs. These just rise to the top for me. They fit in your ears and the company sends you different sizes so you can pick the size that is best for you. Fantastic! I have had many that just don’t stay in or don’t work. I have used Loop Earplugs in the ER, hospital room (seriously, why all the beeping), and at home. I keep these in my migraine kit and bought an extra to keep at work.
Noise is such a trigger for me and these are a lifesaver. They also have many different options in what you can get. There are different levels of noise protection. Maybe you want to cancel out all noise, or you want to hear the conversation, but it’s too much.

I bought the ones that actually can be adjusted. I have tried the ones dedicated to blocking out all noise. Those have helped me rest and other models help me get back to my boys’ activities. Basketball is one that was very hard for me. At times, I have to listen to my body.

MigraineLife  Hack 2:

Wow! Is this thing for real? The Cefaly Device has been a game changer.

I never put a product or person out that I don’t trust or haven’t spent time with. I was skeptical about this and another device I will also share. The Cefaly not only made a difference in my treatment plan but also in the time I spent with my home family and school family. So many with migraine can relate. If that is you, you are welcome to return to migraineroad anytime.

I can sometimes use this and it is all I need. Other times I need to find the right combination of medicines to pair it with. If you have been down the road of trying to find what medicine works, it can be exhausting. I am right there with you. More on that later.

The Cefaly can be used as a preventative or a rescue. The rescue has been primarily what has helped me the most. Tip: after you turn it on and hear the beep confirming it is ready to begin, wait for the right intensity for you. Then gently press the device and it will stay at that intensity. This may vary based on your head pain level at the time. I was scared it would make it worse. However, that was not a problem. I have repeatedly thought, “Worth every penny!”

Migraine Life Hack 3:

The Migrastil roll-on, Inhaler, and Cream

These products are other natural treatments that provide relief for pain, smell, and nausea. The roll-on can be put on your temples or the back of your neck. I have also used it on my wrists to overpower some strong smells that may trigger an attack. The cream can be used to ease muscle tension. I have found it helpful on my neck and shoulders.

In addition to these wonderful products, the inhaler is very gentle and isn’t a spray. You just inhale some of its relieving scent. This scent is almost nothing. I am very sensitive. All of these products can be very helpful and I just toss the roll-on and inhaler in my bag or purse.

Migraine Life Hack 4:

Walk Away or Leave

Sometimes we just need to leave the triggers. It may be a small thing to others, but to the person with migraine, it is necessary to make a decision for their health. Most places eliminate smoke, but for me, that is almost a guarantee that it will set off an attack. Strong perfume will do the same. In those instances, I have to move or even leave. Many don’t feel this is an option, but you and those who care about you will understand and be thankful. Preventing an attack instead of going into a bad one is worth this decision. Then, if needed use these other life hacks to help. If further essential take your medicine.
